How to play:

(The rules are based off  the World Dodgeball Federation rule book.  We do not expect you to memorize every rule which is why we have referees stationed at each court. If you would like to review the WDBF rules in detail please Click Here.)

- A game begins by placing 6 dodgeballs along the centerline - 3 on one side of the center hash and 3 on the other. Players then take a position behind the baseline, with at least one foot touching the baseline. Following the starting whistle by the referee, teams approach the centerline to retrieve the balls.

- Teams line up at the court end lines at the beginning of each round.  Opposing teams may not cross the center line.  Each round ends when one of the opposing teams has no more players left on the court.

- There are several ways you may be called-out:

                1. A live ball hits any part of your body below your shoulders.

                2. Your ball has been caught by the opposing team.

                3. You step out of bounds or cross the center line.

- You defend yourself either by dodging the ball, blocking the ball with another ball, or catching the ball.  Catches also revive the first teammate that was called out.  If the ball that you are blocking with happens to be dropped you are considered out.  If the ball that you are blocking with deflects and hits a part of your body then you are considered out.

- Live balls are considered dead when they touch the wall, the floor, or two live ball collided in the air.

- If there is only 1 player left on each side of the court, the game stops and there is a “Last Stand” match.  Both players are given 3 balls with no blocking allowed.  If a ball hits any part of your body you are considered out.

- Referees monitor each game, but honest and fair game play is highly encouraged.

Players age 14-17 will be playing by the WDBF rules and be played in an open-court style, volleyball sized court. Strategic game play will be more encouraged at this age level.
